Connecting to MySQL 4.1 with MacSQL 3.0

MacSQL 3.0 uses the MySQL drivers from MySQL 3.23 and can not connect to a default MySQL 4.1 server. To connect, you must follow one of the options described in the MySQL Reference Manual Section A.2.3.

MacSQL 3.1 includes a plugin using the MySQL 5.0 client libraries that can connect to any MySQL 4.1 or greater server. The older MySQL plugin for MySQL 3.23 and MySQL 4.0 is available when using a PowerPC Macintosh or when running MacSQL 3.1 using Rosetta on an Intel-based Macintosh.
